Visit of the Cross & Icon

On Wednesday 20th February, the World Youth Day Cross and Icon visited Bungendore. It was a deeply spiritual and moving visit that saw nearly 400 people attend the morning. It commmenced with a handover from young people from Goulburn, followed by an aboriginal welcoming ceremony. The young men who fought in wars overseas and who did not return were remembered at the War Memorial. The procesion through the main street, stopped at St Philip's Anglican Church for a short liturgy before proceding to St Mary's. The veneration of the Cross & Icon took place in the grounds of St Mary's. Following the departure of the Cross & Icon to Bateman's Bay, a large number of people stayed to enjoy a light lunch.
