Hoskinstown Parish

St Peter and Paul’s Church Hoskinstown

History
According to the book Chords from the Harp, A History of Bungendore Catholic Community by Rev. Brian Maher in November 1986 page 43.

According to a Goulburn Herald report of 20 August 1885, the church foundation (corner stone) was laid by Very Rev. J.J. Carroll vicar-General of NSW on 16 August 1885.  The church dimensions were 50 feet by 12 ½  feet and cost 600 pounds to construct.  300 people attended the ceremony to mark the laying of the corner stone.

In a letter to his superiors in Sydney in March 1893, Fr Madden said:

A church at Hoskinstown is built of stone with a shingle roof.  There are three sets of vestments and a chalice.  The church which was built in 1886 is fitted with seats and is in splendid repair.
